Meet the Team
William “Todd” Arthur, DDS
I am a true native of Roanoke Rapids. I attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where I received a Doctor of Dental Surgery degree in 1993. After completing my degree, I returned to the Roanoke Valley to be close to family and friends. I enjoy seeing familiar faces from the past as well as meeting new ones. I am proud to be serving the dental needs of this community where I hope to make a positive impact on those who trust me with their dental care. My wife, Wendy, and I are the proud parents of 2 beautiful, caring and compassionate children.
Eric Nicholson, DDS
Dr. Eric Nicholson of Advance, NC is excited to join the practice of Hoffman & Arthur for the retiring Dr. Steve Hoffman. Dr. Nicholson is a 2011 graduate of the University of North Carolina School of Dentistry. He most recently worked at the University of Louisville School of Dentistry as a faculty member. Prior to that, he worked several years in private practice in the Raleigh, NC area.
Dr. Nicholson and his wife are relocating to Roanoke Rapids from Louisville, Kentucky. Dr. Nicholson's wife, Courtney, grew up in Roanoke Rapids and recently completed her orthodontic residency at the University of Louisville. They are both happy to return to Courtney's hometown. Dr. Nicholson also grew up in a small town and is very much looking forward to being part of a close-knit community. Dr. Nicholson is now accepting new patients, and his wife will open her orthodontic practice mid-summer. Both are excited to offer high-quality dental services to their patients.
Tammy, Office Manager
I am a lifelong resident of Roanoke Rapids and began my career in healthcare in 1990. I was excited to be offered the opportunity to join the team in 1999! My role began as an Insurance Analyst and within a few years, I was asked to assume the position of Office Manager. When I overhear patients raving about the excellent care and service they received at Hoffman & Arthur or how friendly everyone was, it makes me proud to know I’m a part of such an amazing team. My husband and I have two beautiful, fun loving kids. Our family enjoys spending time with family and friends, playing board games, listening to music and singing like no one’s around, however, my kids prefer me to sing when no one IS around!
Sue, Insurance Coordinator
My journey in healthcare started in 1984 when I entered the medical field. I switched over into the dental field with Hoffman & Arthur in 2005. Dealing with insurance has been my specialty and although the dental arena was a whole different ballgame, I was up for the challenge. My primary job responsibilities include filing insurance, collection of both patient and insurance payments, plus all account follow up. However, you may see me at any front desk position filling in for team members whenever needed. I enjoy my job and those I work with. I also enjoy spending time with my family, eating, and attending and serving as a member of Roanoke Rapids First Pentecostal Holiness Church. My husband and I have been married since 1983 and we have 2 children. We also have a precious granddaughter that is everything to her “Ga-Ga.”
Beth, Financial Coordinator
As Financial Coordinator, I’m not always a favorite among the patients – at first. Although I work to ensure our doctors are reimbursed for the services they provide, I also strive to help each patient get the treatment they need and deserve. I make sure they get the most out of any dental benefits and discuss the variety of payment options available to them. Since 2004, I have loved working for such kind and gentle doctors! While working, I really enjoy talking with our wonderful patients, getting to know them, and being able to help them with whatever I can. When I am away from the office, I spend most of my time with my amazing son, who is my world!
Kim, Scheduling Coordinator
Since joining the staff of Hoffman & Arthur in 2012, my smiling face is usually the first thing you see when entering the front door. My husband and I have been married since 1990 and have 2 handsome sons. Our family relocated from Smithfield to Roanoke Rapids in order for my husband to pastor the Roanoke Rapids First Pentecostal Holiness Church. I love being able to greet each patient and welcome into a friendly atmosphere, whether it’s their first visit, or they’ve been a lifelong patient. I also enjoy being able to help them with scheduling appointments, verifying & discussing their insurance benefits, or literally anything they might need help with.
After being raised in Roanoke Rapids and graduating from RRHS in 1984, I decided to pursue a degree in dental hygiene. I attended Wayne Community College and graduated as a Registered Dental Hygienist in 1986. It was in 1997 that I joined Hoffman & Arthur. Over the years, I have enjoyed my patients while maintaining a professional relationship with a personal touch. I also look forward to each new patient and the chance to provide them with the best dental care possible. My husband and I live in Roanoke Rapids and together we have four children and one grandchild.
I have been a part of Hoffman & Arthur since 2004. Dental hygiene became my profession of choice, so I attended Wayne Community College and obtained my degree in dental hygiene. Being able to work with the public, help them, and seeing the smiles on their faces is what makes my job so enjoyable. It is great being part of such a friendly atmosphere. I also enjoy helping out at church and I love spending time with my kids. My husband and I have 2 animated little boys and 1 darling little girl.
Laura Beth, RDH
After graduating from Roanoke Rapids High School, I attended Wayne Community College for dental hygiene. In 2005, I became a part of the Hoffman & Arthur team. Every single day I enjoy coming to work because I simply love my job. I love shopping every chance I get and going to the gym. I especially enjoy spending time with my husband and 2 delightful and totally energetic children.
As a dental hygienist since 1994, I graduated with a Bachelor’s of Science degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Go Tarheels! As a member or the Haliwa Saponi Indian Tribe, I wanted to return close to home to work and be near my family and tribal community. Upon graduating, I began working with Hoffman & Arthur and have been here ever since. My employers, coworkers, and patients have become my extended family. I look forward to seeing them every day and giving back to my community. Health fairs, career days, free dental clinics and teaching dental health in the area schools allow me to do just that. I have 2 lovely daughters of my own and upon getting remarried in 2014, my family has grown so that I now have 5 beautiful daughters!
I have been a “Prisoner” at Hoffman & Arthur since 1990. LOL!! My husband and I have two amazing children. As a family, we enjoy many activities together, such as softball, baseball, snow skiing, going to the beach and spending time with friends at the lake. It is my goal to have empathy for my patients and to ensure their dental needs are met with quality. I work with wonderful people and can honestly say that our team will take great care of you and make every visit pleasant, positive and personable.
I attended Old Dominion University in Norfolk, VA and graduated as a CDA in 1991. I’ve been a part of Hoffman & Arthur since 1994 and enjoy helping people and talking with them. I treat each patient with compassion and try to make their experience as pleasant as possible. Born and raised in Conway, NC, I am a country girl through and through. I married my high school sweetheart, Michael, in 1985. We enjoy time with our family, serving in our church, traveling out west and spending time with our much loved and very spoiled dogs, Kimberly and Buckie.
I was born in Franklin, VA but grew up right here in Roanoke Rapids, NC. After high school, I attended Wayne Community College. I have been working as a dental assistant at Hoffman & Arthur since 2005. Since becoming employed here, I have gotten married, had a beautiful little girl that’s full of energy and a handsome little man that can melt my heart in an instant. I love working with patients and being in the dental field, as well as, spending time with family, shopping, traveling and attending dog shows.
I began working in dentistry at a young age through a career program at my high school in Emporia, VA. From that moment, I fell in love with all things dentistry. While working as an assistant in high school, I received several certifications through different community colleges in Virginia and North Carolina. I love coming to work every morning never knowing who’s going to be singing karaoke that day or what joke Dr. Hoffman will be telling. I could not ask for a better office to be a part of. Teamwork and closeness are shown by everyone through the way we help the doctors and each other, as well as helping you enjoy every moment of your visit.
